Diving into Schwelm
24 April 2026, Stadtbad Schwelm
Concert installation · choral singing · water experiments

Trio Wellenbad © Philip Kistner
At Stadtbad Schwelm, installation and concert merge into a mixture of sound, light and water. Wellenbad works together with Chorwerk Ruhr and the diving club TC Schwelm in a space between surface and depth.
During the day, a sound installation developed by Wellenbad is audible and accessible inside the container of Urbane Künste Ruhr – a concentrated resonant space that extends the acoustic field of the swimming pool.
In the evening, the pool becomes a performance space in water. Divers from TC Schwelm perform beneath the surface while a swimming audience becomes part of the situation. Voices of Chorwerk Ruhr spread across space and water, presenting works from Monteverdi to John Cage.
A highlight is the world premiere of WASSERLUFTMUSIK in three acts – a choral work composed by Wellenbad, alongside a new ten-minute live electronics piece. Light above and below water, sound and atmosphere condense into a shared space in which listening, movement and suspension overlap.

A space of sound, light and voices in resonance.
Between water and singing, listening begins to shift.
And everything that flows finds, for a moment, its shared vibration.
